Netflix Movies Online
Thanks to Netflix, movie lovers can choose from over 100,000 titles to be delivered right to their mailbox. But for those who enjoy streaming films onto their personal computer, there are also Netflix movies online. While the selection isn’t quite as large as the first option, Netflix has dedicated itself to providing more and more online movies. In a few years, don’t be surprised if their entire selection is available for easy streaming. And thanks to the miracles of modern technology, these Netflix movies online can also be played on your standard television set.
In order to give you an idea of all the choice available from Netflix movies online, I’ve put together a brief sampling. It’s also important to note that Netflix now offers a subscription plan that’s limited exclusively to streaming movies.
- Eat Pray Love (2010) – Based on the Elizabeth Gilbert memoir, this film stars Julia Roberts as a recently divorced woman who embarks on a journey of self-discovery around the globe. Her exotic destinations include Italy, India, and Bali, and the actors she runs into along the way include Javier Bardem, Billy Crudup and Richard Jenkins.
- Chloe (2010) – When a doctor (Julianne Moore) begins to suspect her husband (Liam Neeson) of having an affair, she hires a call girl named Chloe (Amanda Seyfried) to test his loyalties. But the young prostitute isn’t exactly stable, and the business transaction results in seduction, betrayal, and an eventual death.
- Alien vs. Ninja (2010) – An over-the-top Japanese film that focuses on a clan of ninjas who witness a ball of fire fall from the sky and crash into the woods. When they go to investigate, they encounter a number of lethal aliens, and the survivors of the initial attack must figure out how to stop an opponent who seems immune to their weapons. The blood and guts are ever-present, and the ninja’s moves constantly defy the laws of gravity. A fun example of Netflix movies online.
- 8 Mile (2002) – Eminem lands his first major film role as a young rapper trying to gain respect in 1990’s Detroit. Kim Basinger is excellent as his alcoholic, white trash mom, and the late Brittany Murphy co-stars as his love interest. If you like rap music, this one is a must-see.
- Harpoon: Whale Watching Massacre (2009) – The rare Icelandic horror film, this movie revolves around a group of tourists who embark on an expedition to watch whales. But when their ship breaks down and they’re picked up by a group of crazed whale hunters, the body count begins to pile up at an alarming rate. Filled with plenty of humor to balance out the gore, the film stars Gunnar Hansen, best known for his role as Leatherface in the original version of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
- Frozen (2010) – Three friends (Emma Bell, Kevin Zegers, and Shawn Ashmore) head to a ski resort for some fun, but they wind up stranded on the ski lift after the park shuts down due to an approaching storm. With no help in sight and facing the prospect and being stuck all weekend in freezing conditions, they desperately start to examine their options. Meanwhile, hungry wolves begin to circle below.
- Grown Ups (2010) – When their junior high basketball coach dies, a group of childhood pals reunite for his funeral during the 4th of July weekend. In addition to reminiscing about the days of their youth, they work out a number of relationship issues with their wives, engage in a showdown with an old rival, and generally have the time of their lives. The all-star comedy cast includes Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, and Rob Schneider.
As a loyal customer, I’ve watched a number of Netflix movies online. While you do need a high-speed connection to use this service, I’ve rarely had any problems once the movie gets started. And for those who like to keep a tidy home, it’s certainly a way to prevent movie cases and Netflix envelopes from cluttering up the place.
