Redbox Movies Available
If you ever shop at places like Wal-Mart or Walgreens, you’ve probably noticed a large red machine located in the entrance to the store. This is Redbox, a unique service that allows you to select from the movies inside the machine and take one or more home with you for only $1 per rental.
The following list details some of the many Redbox movies available, but you would be amazed at how many titles they can fit into one of those red machines. New films are added every week, so this list is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to having a fun night of movie viewing.
- Tron: Legacy (2010) – Set 20 years after the disappearance of computer whiz Kevin Flynn, Tron: Legacy follows the adventures of his son, Sam (Garrett Hedlund), as he investigates what happened to his father and suddenly finds himself inside a dangerous and fascinating virtual world. The effects are breathtaking, the Daft Punk soundtrack is pulsating, and the supporting cast includes memorable roles from Michael Sheen, Olivia Wilde, and a younger version of Jeff Bridges.
- 127 Hours (2010) – Of all the Redbox movies available, this Danny Boyle film may be my favorite. In what’s essentially a one-man show, James Franco stars as real-life mountain climber Aron Ralston, a young man who finds his arm trapped by a boulder in an isolated location. As he ponders death and the option of trying to amputate his own arm, Aron uses his video camera to record his thoughts and cherished memories of the past. At once inspirational and harrowing, 127 Hours is a testament to what a talented actor and director can accomplish when they work together.
- Love & Other Drugs (2010) – Jake Gyllenhaal stars in this comedy-drama as a 1996 medical representative trying to get doctors to switch from Zoloft instead of Prozac. On one of his sales calls, he meets a patient named Maggie Murdock (Anne Hathaway), a young woman suffering from early onset Parkinson’s Disease, and they enter into a complicated romance. To top things off, Jake discovers the miracle pill known as Viagra, and his clients suddenly can’t get enough.
- My Soul to Take (2010) – Written and directed by Wes Craven (his first such film in 16 years), this horror film follows a group of teens who were born on the exact same day that a serial killer known as the Ripper died in a fiery crash. When bodies start turning up, they soon begin to fear that the Ripper has reincarnated inside one of them.
- The Next Three Days (2010) – Russell Crowe plays a mild-mannered college professor whose wife (Elizabeth Banks) is convicted of murder and sent to prison. Convinced of her innocence and desiring to once again reunite his family, he begins planning to break her out of captivity. Based on the French film Pour Elle, the movie co-stars Liam Neeson, Brian Dennehy, and Olivia Wilde.
- Faster (2010) – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stars as Driver, a mysterious individual who’s released from prison and immediately sets out to avenge the death of his brother. Billy Bob Thornton is a junkie cop who’s trying to catch him, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen is the hitman hired to stop him. There’s more than enough car chases and gunplay satisfy action movie fans, and the cast is rounded out by Maggie Grace, Carla Gugino, Moon Bloodgood, and Tom Berenger.
The above list of Redbox movies available should demonstrate that this business model carries everything you might be looking for when it comes to cinema. Sure, they may be a little light on older and obscure titles, but those looking for a fast and easy alternative to video stores on online rentals will love the selection and convenience.
